Artist Research

Roy Liechtenstein was born in Ney York, Manhattan on the 27th October 1923, He is known for painting and sculpture, His style is Pop Art.
He has worked alongside Andy Warhol and Jasper Jones and became a leading figure in the New Arts Movement; His preferred style was comic book style. He was influenced by advertising in comic book style
His most famous works are Whaam! and Drowning Girl. He has been known to copy famous works, for example Van Gogh’s Bedroom In Aires and turned that picture into his own cartoon style.



Liechtenstein uses bright colours in his art work, I.E. Yellow, Reds, Blues and Oranges, He uses VERY bold black lines, Which is typical in cartoons.
